Eagan, Minn. – Just two days before the start of the MNGOP’s 2014 State Convention, U.S. Senate candidate Mike McFadden announced the support of four additional state legislators including Sen. Eric Pratt (R-Prior Lake), Rep. David FitzSimmons (R-Albertville), Rep. Brian Johnson (R-Cambridge), and Rep. Jim Newberger (R-Becker). McFadden, who is challenging Sen. Al Franken (D-MN), has now received the endorsement of thirteen Republican legislators.
“I support Mike McFadden because I believe he has the best perspective to grow our economy and improve education in our country. Mike’s professional experience in working with employers and entrepreneurs gives him unique insight into how federal regulation is stifling job creation and economic expansion,” said Sen. Pratt. “I am also impressed with Mike’s work with Cristo Rey and dedication to helping young people achieve their dreams. Mike has been a part of making real progress in closing the achievement gap for underprivileged students.”
“I know Mike McFadden will get things done in Washington. His business experience and his leadership prove that he will help to get our economy going again and he’ll stand up for our values,” said Rep. FitzSimmons. “Al Franken has lead us down the wrong path, and it’s time we elect someone who will represent Minnesotans in Washington.”
“We have a number of good candidates to unseat Al Franken, but Mike McFadden stands head and shoulders above the rest,” said Rep. Johnson. “Mike has the team, the plan, and the message Republicans need to send Al Franken back to Hollywood.”
“I have been asked many times over the past few months which candidate I am supporting for the United States Senate. I have held off my announcement because I was focused on my job as a State Representative, but as we approach the state convention in Rochester I felt it best to announce that I am supporting Mike McFadden,” said Rep. Newberger. “Simply put, in my opinion, Mike is the best conservative choice for winning this race. Mike’s background, experience and get-it-done ability are qualities we need to win in November.”
The McFadden for Senate campaign also announced the support of former state Sen. Gretchen Hoffman as well as Luke Yurczyk, Chairman of 6thDistrict MNGOP. McFadden now has the support of three of the eight MNGOP Congressional District chairs, including Jim Carson from the 4thCongressional District and Ted Lovdahl from the 8th Congressional District.
“Mike’s real world experience as a businessman for many years and his work with the Cristo Rey school in Minneapolis makes him the best candidate to beat Al Franken in November,” said Sen. Hoffman.
“Team McFadden is growing every day, and it will continue to grow well after the state convention concludes this weekend,” said Mike McFadden. “I’m honored to have the support of so many legislators and hard working Republican activists as we build a campaign that focuses on turning this economy around and will win in November.”
